If you read just one post down, you’ll see I’m pretty much obsessed with banning bottled water. And what better way to enjoy H2O on the go than with SIGG Water Bottles!
These eco-friendly reusable bottles are the perfect accessory for anyone who is “green” but still wants to make a fashion statement. Made from pure aluminum and 100% recyclable, SIGG is the ideal alternative to plastic bottles and does not leach any harmful chemicals such as BPA, while alleviating the plastic waste dilemma that plagues our landfills and oceans. The durable bottles have a baked on, non-porous interior lining that is taste neutral.
I received a gorgeous Shadow Cat 20 oz bottle to review: bright fuchsia, catty design and incredibly sleek, it’s just so me. Finally, a manufacturer who appreciates that drinking water doesn’t have to be boring!
Looks aside, there are just so many features that I am in love with:
1. All SIGG bottles are BPA-free. Leave them out in the sun, bang them around and refill them to your heart’s content – all without the fear of dangerous chemicals leaking into your beverage. The bottles have a water-based, non-toxic liner that has been thoroughly tested to ensure 0% leaching – so absolutely no migration of either the liner or the outer shell will seep into your drink.
2. SIGG water bottles are light, shock and leak-proof. They are extruded from a single piece of aluminum (ingenious!), which guarantees maximum quality and stability. The internal coating is a baked-on enamel finish that is taste neutral and resistant to fruit acids, sucrose and sodium deposits – ensuring a fresh, clean taste. For anyone who’s ever experienced the unpleasant aftertaste in metal or plastic bottles, SIGG products are the answer.
3. SIGG’s reputation is second to none. They’ve been manufacturing and perfecting metal beverage bottles for over 100 years – long before the BPA scare! You can trust SIGG to produce products of the highest quality.
4. Ease of use. The best way to keep a SIGG bottle fresh and clean is washing it by hand. Its recommended to rinse your SIGG thoroughly under the faucet with warm, soapy water at the end of every use and let it air dry with the top off. How simple is that?
5. Kids SIGG. Why should adults have all the fun? Keep kids hydrated and happy with 10 oz bottles – perfect for little hands. Plus, the cool designs make these bottles as good to look at as they are to drink from.
And if you’re a Paul Frank lover like me, do check out the new Paul Frank SIGG – you can customize and personalize to unleash your inner monkey!
SIGG Water Bottles retail for between $17.99 and $29.99 USD, which is completely reasonable taking into consideration their quality, durability, pleasing esthetics… and the money you’ll save on bottled water! Full ban on bottles in effect my friends!
I'm in complete agreement with you. I have 2 water bottles for my son (old navy since they are prone to be lost) and 2 for myself (even though I secretly lust for a SIGG) and love my tap water. and I drink a lot of water.
oh my word…a paul frank sigg?? Must go look more into this..but my kids would be way jealous! lol!!
I love SIGG bottles. So happy to see you recommend them.
@Lioness – That's awesome. Happy to see you're on board with banning the bottle!@OHM – YES! A Paul Frank SIGG – and it's awesome that you can personalize it!@Jane – Love them too!
I love sigg water bottles! I bought my first Sigg about 3 years ago! It's white with long grass and a couple lady bugs. They have such creative designs and I love the stainless steel!
I would strongly advise against purchasing, or using, a SIGG. When I was 9 months pregnant (and my little one is only 14 months now, so not that long ago), I found out that SIGG bottles (at that time) contained BPA. I had only been using them for about 1 year, so it wasn't like they were old. They never advertised them as "BPA FREE", many of us just assumed they were. Because of the uproar from so many people like me, they made a "BPA Free" version. You were able to go to certain stores (such as Whole Fodds) and exchange any of your old, BPA SIGGS for the non-BPA ones. Since I owned 4 SIGGS, I chose this route, since it was cheaper than switching to another brand altogether. Well, within one week of using my "BPA Free" SIGGs, two of them started peeling on the inner lip of the bottle (SIGGs have a liner inside them). I realized this when I was drinking from 2 different bottles, and had a small piece get into my mouth. When I examined further, sure enough, the white little piece matched the inner lining of the SIGG. And it wasn't just a fluke, since I had this happen with two bottles. I also know someone else who this happened to. I have since then switched to the Kleen Kanteen, and LOVE them. There are no liners in the Kleen Kanteen to worry about peeling.
One more thing, Lena. You have in your post that they have been making SIGG bottles long before the BPA scare…but it has only been in the last year or so that SIGG bottles have actually been BPA free. Even after the BPA scare, they were making their bottles with BPA in the liners. They just said that their studies showed that no BPA got into the water. But, I'd rather not have taken the chance. I am disappointed with the company for taking so long to switch to the BPA free version, and even more disappointed that I experienced the liners of the new version coming off into my mouth when drinking. After searching the internet, I am not the only one who had problems with the new bottles. Here is info on the BPA in the old ones:http://www.thestar.com/article/689714
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience hun! I'll forward your comment to SIGG and would be happy to post their response, if any.
Thanks Lena, I will be curious to see what they say.
