Last week, hubby and I were in Costco. I was shopping and taking care of the little one; he was doing what he does best – skillfully scoping out the Sample Ladies and determining who was showcasing what, where, and if it was ready to enjoy.
“We’ve got Hummus by the cooler case”, he stated quickly, before taking off like lightning.
By the time I manoeuvred the stroller through the crowds, I was pretty hungry myself. The Hummus Ladies were dishing out dollops of chickpea goodness, all with fancy combinations of Roasted Garlic, Smoked Chipotle, and Mediterranean Olive. Now while the hummus itself was delicious (we purchased two containers, which will indeed be served at the next CharMike soiree), it was what was delivering the hummus to my mouth which held my interest completely.
“Where can I get these crackers?” I called out to anyone who would listen.
The Hummus Lady pushed a bag of “Stacy’s Pita Chips” towards me and happily said I could find them in the chip section. I took off like lightning.
At home, I ripped open the bag and started to dissect the taste and texture vs. the marketing verbiage. One the bag: Stacy’s “Simply Naked” Pita Chips, oven baked, lightly salted, no trans fat, no MSG or preservatives. In my mouth: the best darned pita chip I had ever had! Nice and crunchy with a hint of saltiness. Perfect for dipping or on their own. Insanely addictive.
I instantly felt foolish, wondering how many people had been enjoying these little wonders all along, while I doggedly cut up fresh pita, or settled for the safe and expected Tostito?
I am a newly converted pita chip lover. Won’t you join me?
The only chip flavour available at Costco is the “Simply Naked” variety, which is perfect for dipping. However, through extensive research (okay, a 0.5 second Google search), I found out that Walmart and Metro retail the chips as well, including other flavours such as Parmesan Garlic & Herb, Pesto and Sundried Tomato and Cinnamon Sugar.
I’m thinking of sneaking downstairs and grabbing a handful now…
Lena, this blog makes me want to take a dip
Oh no you didn’t!!!
ehhhhhhhhhhhhh reminds me of the line in Beyonce’s song, Single ladies!…I’m doing my own little thing – you Decided to dip but now you wanna trip…
Eww, she actually says “You decided to dip???” Who knew that Ivan was cool like dat all those years ago!
Dang, getting hungry
yeah she says that and it is the only line in the song that sticks out to me hehe considering the history behind the word “dip”
michael & beyonce – SO wrong.
